A story to share

Teddy on the Edge (2025) is a character-driven 3D animated short film that tackles the critical themes of mental well-being, belonging, and resilience with charm, warmth, and ultimate optimism.

Set against a stark, windswept coastline, Oddysee, a teddy bear facing an emotional crisis, is interrupted by Oracle, a wise old bunny rabbit with a life-affirming tale to share.

Designed as an earnest story for youthful audiences, the film serves as a powerful message of hope and an inoculation against despair.

The tech

Wireframe model of Teddy, the 3D animated teddy bear, built in Maya

Six minutes of feature-quality CGI animation (over 552GB of HDR images) was all rendered locally on just two desktop-class NVIDIA GPUs.

For efficiency, and to get the best out of the technology available, characters were animated and rendered in Maya using Chaos V-Ray and composited into background environments created and rendered in Unreal Engine 5.
